'Cursed' accident-prone road to be exorcised at prayer vigil in Surry, England
JUNCTION nine of the M25 may have been hexed, the pastor of an Evangelical church has claimed.  Gerald Coates, of the Pioneer Engage Church in Epsom Road, Leatherhead, believes someone "motivated by dark forces" could have been recording messages of evil onto cassette tapes and then strewing the reel around areas they wish to curse.  Mr Coates, who lives in Effingham, said he had found large amounts of tape reels in the area, including around the roundabouts that lead onto junction 9 of the motorway.

Russia bans witches, warlocks and faith healers from advertising they can cure cancer!
Russian MPs have backed a bill that bans anyone who calls themselves a witch or a wizard from advertising their services in the media in an effort to combat a controversial national obsession with the occult.  According to the Orthodox Church, Russia has 800,000 practitioners of the occult, many of whom advertise in newspaper small advertisements offering cures for alcoholism and spells to lift curses and return errant husbands for a fee. One report claims almost one in five Russians have consulted occult ‘healers’ but MPs have warned they are risking their health and possibly their lives by trusting in such quackery. They say it is time the country grew up.

New book by paranormal researcher Brad Steiger reveals the truth behind the legend of the Haitian voodoo zombie
The undead are all around us, and have been for decades.  Zombies are in our mass consciousness, invading art, literature, entertainment and even education. But at the heart of this fear-mongering revolution is a single question: Is it all pure fiction, or are there in fact real zombies?  That depends on your definition of the word "zombie."For filmmakers in Hollywood, zombies are half-dead figures that lumber toward you with arms outstretched, stinking of rotting flesh. But in Haiti, could zombies be unfortunate victims who have been forced into slavery while under the influence of highly potent drugs?

Men behind the 1995 'Alien Autopsy' hoax discuss their controversial film with humor
In the same tradition of some of science fiction's greatest space stories, Ray Santilli and Gary Shoefield have some serious mind-warping going on with "Alien Autopsy."  Grounded in the happenings before, during and after one of the biggest television events in 1995 with the airing of the Fox television "Fact or Fiction" special "Alien Autopsy," the off-beat comic re-telling of Santilli and Shoefield's tale in movie form presents an alternate version of what really happened.

Wiccan community angered over Christine O'Donnell's negative portrait of witches and witchcraft

Delaware's Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell may have lost the Wiccan vote. O'Donnell's decade-old remarks about having "dabbled into witchcraft," which resurfaced on Friday, were ill-informed and disappointing, some in the pagan community have said.  "Any political candidate that is going to equate witchcraft with Satanism is ill informed and is not likely to get the support of people involved in nature religion," Reverend Selena Fox, the High Priestess & Senior Minister of the Circle Sanctuary, told the Huffington Post. Her non-profit organization is dedicated to promoting paganism and nature spirituality.

Tea Party candidate Christine O' Donnell admits to dating Satanist and dabbling into witchcraft in her youth

The remarkable clip – which was aired this weekend – rocked the campaign of the conservative politician who was backed against the Republican establishment by Sarah Palin and the populist Tea Party movement.
"I dabbled into witchcraft - I never joined a coven. But I did, I did. ... I dabbled into witchcraft,” Miss O’Donnell said, apparently seriously, in the segment shown by liberal comic Bill Maher on his current show Real Time.

Scientific community reminds public of UFO sightings...'that's Venus your looking at!'

Scientists generally issue a warning when Venus shines bright. They usually say something like: It’s not a UFO – it’s just the brightest planet shining brighter.  With eyes turned to the sky more than usual, Venus can startle those who normally don’t look up. Shortly after sunset, low in the west-southwest sky, you might notice Venus, which will be the brightest it has been in all of 2010.

Police and family search for Palmdale, California search for missing members of local millennial cult, including leader Reyna Marisol Chicas

Five adults and at least eight children are sought in what a CHP alert describes as a potential suicide plot. A sheriff's captain points out, however, that documents left behind don't mention suicide and the group has no history of harming themselves.  Authorities launched a major search for five members of a cult-like group in Palmdale and at least eight children who were reported missing after leaving a prayer meeting early Saturday in a feared mass suicide plot, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said.  The group was believed to be traveling in three vehicles: a white 2004 Nissan Quest, a 1995 white Mercury Villager and a newer-model, silver Toyota Tundra, according to the California Highway Patrol, which issued an alert for them.  "It is believed, through further investigation, that [their] intentions are to commit mass suicide," said a CHP alert, which was based on information from sheriff's officials.

Vatican astronomer exclaims, "I'd love to baptize ET"!
Intelligent aliens may be living among the stars and are likely to have souls, a senior Vatican scientist said yesterday.  The Pope's astronomer, Guy Consolmagno, said he would be happy to 'baptise an al ien' - but admitted that the chances of communicating with life outside the Earth were low.  Speaking at the British Science Festival in Birmingham, Dr Consolmagno also dismissed Creationism and claimed that the revival of 'intelligent design' - the controversial theory that only God can explain gaps in the theory of evolution - was 'bad theology'.

World's very first astronomers may have been Australia's ancient Aborigines
An Australian study has uncovered signs that the country's ancient Aborigines may have been the world's first stargazers, pre-dating Stonehenge and Egypt's pyramids by thousands of years.  Ray Norris said widespread and detailed knowledge of the stars had been passed down through the generations by Aborigines, whose history dates back tens of millennia, in traditional songs and stories.  "We know there's lots of stories about the sky: songs, legends, myths," said Norris, an astronomer for Australia's science agency, the Commonwealth Scientific and Research Organisation (CSIRO).

Budapest couple finds image of the Devil on their bathroom tile
The appearance of the Satan image has left her family fearing that the bathroom in their Budapest home has been possessed by the forces of evil.  Husband Laszlo, 52, had renovated the room at great expense, fitting it with a heavenly new bath, shower and tiles – but it’s made life hell.  Forty-seven-year-old Mrs Csrefko spotted the terrifying horned image after her first shower.  She told The Sun: ‘I was naked coming out of the shower and I could suddenly see his eyes staring into me. I just screamed and ran.’  Laszlo added: ‘We can't clean it off and it wasn't there when we put the tiles up. It just appeared overnight and nothing can move it.  ‘The room is always ice cold no matter how high we turn the heating up and we've just stopped using it because it's too spooky.

Chinese mass UFO sightings due to light reflections from outdoor lamps against camera lenses says astronomers
After a weeklong analysis of recent UFO sightings over Hong Kong, a scientist has concluded that the unknown objects were "ghost images" -- reflections of light generated by outdoor lamps caught by camera lenses.  According to China's People's Daily Online, Wang Sichao, a planetary astronomer at the Purple Hills Observatory (part of the Chinese Academy of Science), is convinced the UFOs' circular appearance had a very terrestrial explanation.  "I have analyzed and researched the UFOs," Wang said. "The closer the outdoor circular lamps are to the video image center, the brighter the 'ghost images' will be.

Voodoo priest in Benin hopes to gain respect and new practitioners to the religion to stop stereotypes
This is not about secretive mutterings in the dead of night or freakish eccentrics, explained Dah Aligbonon Akpochihala, an eminent voodoo priest who has taken to the airwaves to preach the old messages of faith, fidelity and obedience integral to his religion. It is about bringing a younger generation on board. A slight, mild-mannered aristocrat in a blue robe, Mr. Aligbonon maintains his modest cinder-block temple on a busy commercial street in this bustling commercial capital, one of the continent’s major ports. The temple sits between a beauty parlor and a hardware stall, and offers spiritual consultation and ceremonies to Mami Wata (a water divinity) — along with photocopying, binding services and CDs in the Fon language of Mr. Aligbonon’s broadcasts. Chickens peck in the courtyard — they have multiple uses, food and sacrifice — laundry hangs on the rack and a baby bawls from within.

Local favorite and white wizard sends message of joy to residents of bay city Torbay, England

A 'white wizard' who sends waves of joy to commuters across Torbay has attracted a massive following on internet site Facebook.  The bearded gent known as Moses-Peter who sits at the side of the seafront road between Torquay and Paignton has been hailed a spiritual leader by some of his 5,000 followers.  Others say he is a 'living legend' and call him King Neptune and Merlin.  But the mystery man himself is reluctant to speak out.  He simply says that he is spreading a message of 'love, joy and happiness'.  And he said that the people are the stars, not him.  The 'strange waving man' has been spotted by hundreds of commuters for the past few months.  He wears beads and a headband and carries a wooden staff.  He settles on a portable chair and waves at drivers for hours at a time.  Some drivers remark that he never seems to get tired and is always smiling.

German police arrest brothel madam for using 'voodoo magic' to force Nigerian girls into prostitution
German authorities were first alerted to the exploitation in the winter of 2009 when they arrested 20-year-old prostitute during a routine check at a Bonn bordello for having false identification.  She told officers that her "madam" had forced her into selling sex, handing over all of her earnings and not informing police using “voodoo magic” from the victim’s native country.  “Should she fail to adhere to this, she was threatened with sickness, madness and even death,” police said in a statement.  The madam reportedly used “voodoo packets,” which contained items such as finger nails, body hair, clothing and photos.  “The victims believe that the person who possesses these packets exercises power over them,” the police statement said.

Arizona lawyer suspended for attempting to channel client's dead spouse

A hearing officer in Arizona has recommended a six-month suspension for a lawyer accused of claiming that she was possessed by the spirit of a client's dead wife, then lying about in an unrelated disciplinary matter.  The lawyer, Charna Johnson, testified in the subsequent disciplinary hearing on the channeling claims that vague references to sex in e-mails she sent to the client were from the client’s deceased wife, and there was no sexual contact, according to the hearing officer’s report (PDF). The National Law Journal has the story.  The hearing on the channeling allegations pitted two experts who disagreed on whether Johnson must have been delusional. A state expert said that’s the inevitable conclusion, since there is no scientific evidence to support channeling, while Johnson’s expert said that’s an inappropriate value judgment that may contravene the religious beliefs of millions of people.

Psychologist says their is no evidence of 'repressed memories', and traumatic events are not easily
The idea that traumatised people, especially the victims of child sexual abuse, deliberately repress horrific memories goes all the way back to the 19th century and the theories of Sigmund Freud himself.  But now some experts are saying the evidence points the other way.  Professor Grant Devilly, from Griffith University's Psychological Health research unit, says the memory usually works in the opposite way, with traumatised people reliving experiences they would rather forget.  "It's the opposite. They wish they couldn't think about it," he said.

Pub at Magazine Hotel in Wallasey, England almost burns down...because of an old witches curse!
The landlords of a Merseyside pub which was almost destroyed by a fire believe a mysterious curse is to blame.  The blaze at the 250-year-old Magazine Hotel in Wallasey caused £200,000 worth of damage and left managers Linda and Les Baxendale living in a caravan for three months.  A small fabric witch figure which hung from the ceiling of the main bar was stolen two nights before the fire.  And with a history of accidents befalling those who dared to touch it, the couple are convinced the two are connected.  The official cause was a power surge which blew up the pub's fuse box, starting a fire.

French town of Ares, with it's very own alien spacecraft landing pad, gets a visitor...only it's not E.T.

Arès, near Bordeaux, southwestern France, has decided to try and attract Martians to its triangular “UFOport” with its very own fake Martian craft.  Made by a local artist, the man-made UFO “landed” on the strip yesterday and, it is hoped, will entice any hesitant extraterrestrials in search of a runway. A plaque reads: “Reserved for voyagers of the universe”.  The operation has been dubbed: “‘Allo Arès, ici UFO.” Arès built the pad in 1976 after a local airport electrician and UFO nut complained to local authorities that France had no alien craft strips.  The local mayor liked the idea and decreed that extraterrestrial visitors would be exempt from airport tax and could take part in any local boules or mud-skating competitions.
