Mysterious 'Sonic Boom' heard across Western Atlanta ... authorities say it was not a jet!

Authorities west of Atlanta are trying to figure out what caused a spectacular boom that rattled windows and prompted 911 calls.  Residents of Carroll, Douglas and Haralson counties heard the boom around 9:45 p.m. Friday.  Authorities say that no one who called 911 reported any emergency or explosion and no utility companies reported trouble.  One theory that surfaced Saturday was that it might have been a sonic boom — a large shock wave created by an airplane that goes faster than the speed of sound — seems unlikely.
