After two failed doomsday predictions Harold Camping apologizes and retires

At age 90, Harold Camping doesn't have any more doomsday predictions. At least not right now. In a five-minute "apology," Camping appeared to be done predicting the Rapture. He apologized for some of his comments concerning the Rapture, but did leave the door slightly open, saying he is "checking [his] notes carefully."

'Nazi' cult members from Colonia Dignidad in Chili accused of kidnapping and manslaughter 

Rebeca Schaefer and Peter Schmidt are accused of kidnapping, manslaughter and membership of an illicit organisation.  They handed themselves in after a judge ordered their arrest on Monday along with five others.  The judge issued a warrant for the arrest of Hartmut Hopp, the deputy leader of Colonia Dignidad who is thought to have fled to Germany.

Infra-red satellites over Egypt discover 17 lost pyramids and other lost ancient sites

More than 1,000 tombs and 3,000 ancient settlements were also revealed by looking at infra-red images which show up underground buildings. Initial excavations have already confirmed some of the findings, including two suspected pyramids.

To casual viewers, Harold Camping is a two-time loser when it comes to rapture predictions. However, the 89-year-old evangelist who claimed that the world was going to end this past Saturday, only to have his predicted rapture turn out to be a lot less apocalyptic than advertised (save for for one volcano burst in Iceland that was hardly rapture-like).

The man who said the world was going to end appeared at his front door in Alameda a day later, very much alive but not so well.  "It has been a really tough weekend," said Harold Camping, the 89-year-old fundamentalist radio preacher who convinced hundreds of his followers that the rapture would occur on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Ancient boulder in Ireland, may prove link to Early Bronze Age Irish and ancient North Americans

For eleven years an enigmatic, 11 feet long boulder has been on display in the Hall of Ancients in the Funk Heritage Museum on the campus of Reinhardt University. Thousands of people viewed the boulder. All thought it was something very “special.” Few visitors could make sense out of the concentric rings, circles with crosses, stars and something that looks like a dogwood flower or primitive rose. These carved symbols are known to archaeologists as petroglyphs.

Indian villagers  near the Raipur district storm couples home, accusing them of witchcraft and mutilate both their eyes with scissors!

In yet another incident of "witch hunting" in Chhattisgarh, a 45-year-old woman and her husband were attacked by a group of villagers who pierced the couple's eyes with scissors, police said today. Ten people have been arrested.  The couple have been admitted to a local hospital where doctors said they would probably not regain their sight as their eyes had been deeply penetrated.  The attack took place on Friday at Khaira village in Raipur district, some 125 km from here, police said.

Albino child bleeds to death after being dismembered for ritual fetishes bought by witchdoctors in the African country of Burudi

The end of the world isn't on December 12, 2012 according to Biblical scholar, instead the Rapture is coming on May 12, 2011!

British TV psychic (and exoricst?) plans to be buried alive...for charity

A SCUNTHORPE psychic will be buried six feet underground for charity.  Ian Lawman, who is also an exorcist and TV star, says he wants to stretch his talents and get as close to death without actually dying.  Of the week-long burial he said: “I have had the idea of being buried alive for two years now.  “At first it was just a thought, but now my coffin has been made I am becoming a lot more nervous.”  As the date of the burial approaches, Mr Lawman is training to ensure everything goes to plan.
