NASA photo's of Mars may have signs of flowing water, which also means...maybe life?

Shifting dark streaks on the surface of Mars are signs that water is flowing there today, scientists said Thursday. The possible presence of liquid water is certain to revive speculation that Mars is teeming with microbial organisms. The recipe for life, at least as we know it, calls for liquid water, carbon-based molecules and a source for energy.

Psychic's 'tip' leaves Texas police on wild goose chase for hoaxed mass murder grave site

Texas police were investigating whether a tip-off from a psychic about a mass grave containing dozens of dismembered bodies was in fact a hoax after an intense search found no bodies.  State, local and federal agents combed the area around a rural home after a woman who claimed to be psychic called police twice to report the mass grave at in Hardin, Texas about 50 miles (31 kilometers) northeast of Houston.

Amateur astronomer believes he has found evidence of 'space stations' on Mars, using Google Mars!

We have all heard of little green men from Mars.  But now an American 'armchair astronaut' claims to have discovered a mysterious structure on the surface of the red planet - by looking on Google earth.  David Martines, whose YouTube video of the 'station' has racked up over 200,000 hits so far, claims to have randomly uncovered the picture while scanning the surface of the planet one day.

Italian art historian believes the Shroud of Turin dates back to the Italian artist Giotto di Bondone in 1315

Luciano Buso claims to have found Giotto di Bondone's signature hidden in the 14ft-long, sepia-coloured burial cloth, as well as the number 15.  The historian believes that the number is a reference to 1315, and that the artist was commissioned in that year to come up with an exact copy of the relic because the original was badly damaged after centuries of being hawked around the Holy Land and Europe.

Australian Department of Defense claims it accidentally lost it's UFO 'X-files'

COULD there be any better fodder for Australia's conspiracy theorists? The Department of Defence has ''lost'' its X-Files.  For decades, Defence officials dutifully investigated an unknown number of UFO sightings being reported all over the country. Intelligence officers attached to the Royal Australian Air Force checked the known movement of aircraft against reported sightings, and politely responded by mail to everyone who claimed they saw floating lights or flat saucers or streaking vapour trails. Some of the files were marked as classified.

Jesus figure found on Louisiana telephone pole

The resemblance was reported by drivers on Highway 26 in rural Jeff Davis parish.  One of them, Rickey Navarre, told US television station KPLC: “It just caught my eye. I said to myself that sure looks like an image of Jesus hanging from the telephone pole.

Psychologist says their is no evidence of 'repressed memories', and traumatic events are not easily

The idea that traumatised people, especially the victims of child sexual abuse, deliberately repress horrific memories goes all the way back to the 19th century and the theories of Sigmund Freud himself.  But now some experts are saying the evidence points the other way.  Professor Grant Devilly, from Griffith University's Psychological Health research unit, says the memory usually works in the opposite way, with traumatised people reliving experiences they would rather forget.  "It's the opposite. They wish they couldn't think about it," he said.

Proof of life on Mars still possible says scientist

When Nasa's two Viking landers picked up and examined samples of Martian soil in 1976, scientists found no evidence for carbon-rich molecules or biology.  But after the Phoenix Mars Lander discovered the chlorine-containing chemical perchlorate in the planet's "arctic" region in 2008, scientists decided to re-visit the issue.

What does the Face on Mars really look like close-up?

It was the startling photograph that spawned a thousand conspiracy theories.  A photograph taken by the American Viking 1 Orbiter in July 1976 appeared to show a hill in the shape of a human face on the dusty surface of Mars.  But a new photograph released today, which was taken with Nasa’s high-definition HiRISE camera, finally shows the Face on Mars for what it really is: just a large, rocky hill in the middle of the Martian desert.

British woman spots mysterious blue lights above Newbury skies

A Newbury woman wants to know if any other residents spotted strange goings on in the sky on Sunday night.  Sandra Bartholomew was having a bonfire at her Cromwell Road house with husband, Andrew, when the pair spotted a fast-moving blue light in the sky at about 10.30pm.  She said: "At first we thought it was a balloon but then it went shooting past and up towards the moon."  Mrs Bartholomew said the mysterious blue light was definitely not a Chinese latern - something often mistaken for a UFO.  She added: "We realised it was not [a lantern] because it was going to fast and there was hardly any wind and it was also going sideways."  Did you see the mysterious blue light? Australian mystery creature sighted, dubbed the Territory Tiger

The grainy still above was taken from footage filmed in the 1990s by Territorian Jan Donovan.  Author Rebecca Lang said the large, sandy cat appeared to be of "considerable size", and could be the descendant of escaped circus cats.

Oregon City faith healers plead not guilty in the death of their infant child

Two members of an Oregon City faith-healing church were charged Thursday with first-degree criminal mistreatment for failing to provide medical care for their infant daughter.  Timothy and Rebecca Wyland pleaded not guilty during a brief appearance before Clackamas County Circuit Judge Robert D. Herndon and were released without bail.  The charges were expected. During a custody hearing last week, a prosecutor disclosed that the Wylands had been indicted by a grand jury.  Child-protection authorities took custody of the couple's 7-month-old daughter, Alayna, after she developed a growth over her left eye that ballooned over several months to the size of a tennis ball and threatens her vision.

Uruguay Air Force investigates wave of UFO sightings

A UFO that was seen by hundreds of Uruguayan citizens participating in a celebratory march near that nation's Legislative Palace in the capital city of Montevideo is now being investigated by the Air Force Multiple photos and a video of the UFO that has not been released have been collected by the investigation team headed by Colonel Ariel Sanchez. All up 30 photos have been sent in by eyewitnesses (one such photo can be seen above and a series of closeups of the object can be seen below). The team of investigators includes researchers from the national Aerospace agency's remote sensing department. Witnesses are also being interviewed.  Colonel Sanchez reminded concerned citizens that over 90% of UFOs can be explained and are not extraterrestrial in origin. Colonel Sanchez stated that this particular UFO might well be a plastic bag blowing in the wind. A number of witnesses however are doubtful of that explanation. Some UFO researchers have noted that the UFO looks suspiciously like the probes that are allegedly currently being sent by an alien civilization monitoring Earth, according to a number of aerospace agency ex-insiders.

Ghost hunting family capture spooky images at old, abandoned church in South Carolina

My son and I went to South Carolina to visit his godmother Joy and her husband last weekend, Joy is also a believer in the paranormal and there is a church that is on a one lane dirt road out in the middle of no-where called Horns Creek Baptist Church dated back to 1790. There is a small cemetary on the side and a few graves in the back. All seemed to be dated in the 1800's and in need of repair. One is a little girl who died at age 2. Very sad. Anyways, we pulled up and got out of the truck and walked up the wooden steps into the church. What caught my eye was what appeared to be 2 peep holes.

Experts believe Mars may have fossilized life hidden withing it's rocks

The team made their discovery in the ancient rocks of Nili Fossae.  Their work has revealed that this trench on Mars is a "dead ringer" for a region in Australia where some of the earliest evidence of life on Earth has been buried and preserved in mineral form.  They report the findings in the journal Earth and Planetary Science Letters.
