Hominology experts, who are lined up to lead the studies at Kemerovo University, are eager to prove their existence after people in remote parts of the region claim to have caught a glimpse of the elusive being.

Brooklyn voodoo priest that burnt down building with sex candles was a known magic fraudster and predator

A voodoo priest whose ritual candles sparked a deadly fire in Brooklyn last month is just one of a cadre of supposed mystics who prey on women for money and sex.  The women - most of them African or Haitian - sought good fortune, fertility, love, employment and sometimes revenge. Others, like the woman involved in the Feb. 19 blaze in Flatbush, were looking to get legal immigration status.

Hunting party, lead by a psychic Dean Maynard, hunt for the 'Beast of Windermer' or Bownessie 'as the English Nessie' 

But for the past four years, a rumour of another ‘beast’ has circulated around the Lake District.  A team of investigators have now taken it upon themselves to find the now legendary ‘Bownessie’ in the waters of Windermere.  The crack team will descend onto the shores of the famous lake on Saturday.  Psychic Dean Maynard will lead the team after a recent sighting tip-off.  The excursion is the second the team has carried out in as many years, first hunting for the ‘monster’ in the summer of last year.

Russian territorial president of Kalmyk, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, claims to have been visited by aliens in yellow suits, and hopes to see Russia create a center of UfOlogy 

Colourful Kalmyk president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is ready to make contact with outer space once he leaves office next month.  The long-serving leader of the south-western republic has repeatedly claimed to have met aliens – and he wants to see Russia create a centre for UFOlogy to help explore what happened to him.  “In many countries that I visit there are laboratories that investigate UFOs and make contact,” he told journalists at a press conference in Elista. He did not specify anywhere. He added that he had talked about extraterrestrial civilisations with foreign dignatories, including heads of state gzt.ru reported.

Romanian witches scare lawmakers proposing a tax levy for witches and fortune tellers!

Abracadabra, we'll turn all of you into toads!  That's what Romanian senators may have been fearing when they rejected a proposal to tax witches and fortune tellers.  Lawmakers Alin Popoviciu and Cristi Dugulescu of the ruling Democratic Liberal Party drafted a law where witches and fortune tellers would have to produce receipts, and would also be held liable for wrong predictions, a measure which was part of the government's drive to increase revenue.  Romania's Senate voted down the proposal Tuesday. Popoviciu claimed lawmakers were frightened of being cursed.

Woman regenerates lost fingertip!?

After running inside from a rainstorm one Friday evening last January, Deepa Kulkarni leaned against the doorway with her right hand to take off her boots. Then, in an effort to make sure the dog didn't get out, someone slammed the door hard, and it landed right on her pinky.  Kulkarni thought the door had only bruised her finger, but then she looked down and saw the tip of her pinky lying on the floor.

German police arrest brothel madam for using 'voodoo magic' to force Nigerian girls into prostitution

German authorities were first alerted to the exploitation in the winter of 2009 when they arrested 20-year-old prostitute during a routine check at a Bonn bordello for having false identification.  She told officers that her "madam" had forced her into selling sex, handing over all of her earnings and not informing police using “voodoo magic” from the victim’s native country.  “Should she fail to adhere to this, she was threatened with sickness, madness and even death,” police said in a statement.  The madam reportedly used “voodoo packets,” which contained items such as finger nails, body hair, clothing and photos.  “The victims believe that the person who possesses these packets exercises power over them,” the police statement said.
