Scottish bioethics professor claims that homeopathy is 'ethically unacceptable'

A bioethics expert from the University of Abertay Dundee has denounced the public funding of homeopathy at a time where Scotland’s health budget is under unprecedented pressure. Speaking in the esteemed journal 'Bioethics', Dr Kevin Smith says that Homeopathy is ‘ethically unacceptable’ and should be ‘actively rejected’ by healthcare and education providers.

Acupuncture almost kills South Korea's former president Roh Tae-woo!

Former South Korean president Roh Tae-woo was admitted to hospital with a bad cough and ended up on the operating table to remove an acupuncture needle from his right lung.  Local media reports said Roh, 78, was released from Seoul National University Hospital Monday after surgery to remove the 6.5 cm needle.

U.S. military initiates $125 million experimental 'holistic healing' program for traumatized soldiers

An experimental, Army mental-health, fitness initiative designed by the same psychologist whose work heavily influenced the psychological aspects of the Bush administration's torture program is under fire by civil rights groups and hundreds of active-duty soldiers. Scientists in Abu Dhabi Desert manufacture 52 artificial rain storms

Hail, lightning and gales came through the state's eastern region this summer thanks to scientist-puppetmasters.
As part of a secret program to control the weather in the Middle East, scientists working for the United Arab Emirates government artificially created rain where rain is generally nowhere to be found. The $11 million project, which began in July, put steel lampshade-looking ionizers in the desert to produce charged particles. The negatively charged ions rose with the hot air, attracting dust. Devil attacks school children in Trinidad

Panic broke out at the Moruga Composite School yesterday as 17 female students fell mysteriously ill and began rolling on the ground, hissing and blabbering in a strange tongue, after suffering bouts of nausea and headaches. Two of the students reportedly tried to throw themselves off a railing and had to be physically restrained, triggering fears of a possible demon attack. The drama started during the lunch hour in the Form One block and quickly spread to other areas. Form Five student Kern Mollineau, who attends the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church, said he got worried when the girls’ eyes began rolling up in their heads and they began beating up on the ground.

U.S. soldiers with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder hope to find recovery at Native American sweat lodges

It's late afternoon on the Colorado plains, and the sun is disappearing behind the ridge of mountains to the west of us, but all I can see is darkness.  I'm in a traditional Lakota sweat lodge, a 15-foot-wide dome of willow branches covered in thick moving blankets and canvas.  Inside the tiny lodge, 20 of us are shoulder to sweaty shoulder in burning pain. The ceremony leader sings a traditional song, pouring cup after cup of water onto the still-glowing rocks, increasing the heat until voices break the darkness in anguish. Mine would join them if I could, but the heat is like a hundred pounds of sand, pressing me down into submission.  Now I know what it feels like to touch hell.  The ceremony is called inipi, more commonly known as sweat lodge. It is one of seven sacred rites of the Lakota Sioux, and has also been used traditionally as a purification ceremony among many Native American nations.

Ghost sightings doubled after Canterbury earthquake

The "sheer strength and power" of the September 4 earthquake has more than doubled the number of reported supernatural events in Canterbury, a paranormal investigator says.  Christchurch Paranormal Investigators founder Anton Heyrick said his team had received an "interesting influx" of phone calls and emails after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake, with more than double the usual number of inquiries.  "People are calling us, saying that they had always felt like there was something in the house, but since the earthquake it had become more intense," he said.  Most cases related to strange noises, although one man said he had been attacked by a ghost.

Doctors in the UK and Scotland warn of the dangers of homopathic 'vaccines'

Three practitioners admitted giving patients a homeopathic medicine designed to replace the MMR vaccine.  Inverness-based Katie Jarvis said she only offered "Homeopathic Prophylaxis" to patients who expressed an interest.  But the discovery has prompted a shocked reaction from doctors.  When asked about the practice, Ms Jarvis said: "The alternative that I would offer would be a homeopathic remedy made from diseased tissue, that comes from someone with that disease, and then made into potentised form so that is given in a homeopathic remedy.
